// Recommended compression codecs
  Question
Is there a recommended compression codec to use with WebArrow session recording?
  Answer
A vriety of codecs are available for use and they vary one machine to the next. WebArrow will display the codecs available on the machine based on the selected bit-rate. Codecs vary in the following characteristics:

- Recording quality
- Supported bit-rate
- Compression quality

You may use the Windows Media Video coded available for download from Microsoft at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

Recording made with Windows Media Video can be played in Windows Media Player. Note that when making recordings with the Windows Media Video codec, the recording is best viewed in full screen mode.

DivX also performs well in the above characteristics when used with WebArrow. Please note that DivX is required in order to play back your recording. It is also possible to convert your recording from avi format to flash. For more information please see the article here:

DivX is available for download for free from the DivX website as a trial version.
